National Preparedness Month

After the tragedies of September 11, 2001, the United States Government began encouraging all citizens to take steps to prepare themselves for emergencies such as natural disasters or acts of terror.

September was named “National Preparedness Month” in 2004, and is sponsored by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). Any group organization can become a member of the “National Preparedness Month Coalition” by agreeing to hold or participate in preparedness event in the month of September.

The website http://www.ready.gov has tons of useful information on getting yourself and your family prepared for natural disasters and terrorist attacks. On their website you can find information on what to do before, during, and after a disaster. You can find information on creating a plan to follow in case disaster strikes.

Their website also has information about getting involved in preparedness efforts in your community, ways to protect your business in the event of a disaster, and they also have a kids section to help educate the younger generation about how to prepare.

You can also find links to their social media profiles, and order emergency preparedness publications for free.

Their website encourages citizens to build a survival kit for personal use after an emergency. They suggest that your kit should contain food, water, and supplies to help you through the first 72 hours after a disaster – until relief workers arrive to assist the public.

We at Heirloom Organics would like to also suggest adding seeds to your personal survival kit. Our Original Survival Seed Vault™ is an excellent choice for your personal survival kit because all of our seeds are Long Term Storage Processed using the USDA Method. Because we specially process our seeds, the storage life is doubled for most seed varieties. You can store our Original Survival Seed Vault™ for 7+ years!

If a major terrorist disaster strikes our country, will you be prepared to feed your family if grocery store shelves go empty, or close entirely? Having seeds in your survival kit will provide you great peace of mind, and will provide food for your family if the unthinkable happens in our country.

Another great thing about Heirloom Organics seeds: they are non-hybrid seeds, meaning that you can use the seeds to grow a garden, save some of your harvest seeds, and you can use them to plant your garden the next year. If you continue to do this each year, you will never need to buy seeds again. And because of this, you’ll have a lifetime supply of food security – you’ll never have to worry about your family going hungry.

So, while you’re working on building your family’s survival kit, we hope you’ll consider adding some of our non-hybrid seeds to your kit. We hope the citizens of our country will never need to use their survival kit. But, we would like everyone to have the peace of mind knowing that their survival kit contains the best non-hybrid seeds available – in the event that they ever do need them.
